Parking: |
 Designated parking is at the back of the theater in a City lot off ?????? Street. Some accessible spaces with 96” access aisles, others with none. The parking area is sloped and may effect transfers. Route of travel is generally level leading to an open sidewalk area and the rear entrance to the building. |
Entrance: |
 Rear entrance has automatic doors and leads to the arcade area. The arcade corridor has a ramped section (slope approx. 1:12) which brings you to main entrance of theater. |
Interior: |
The present configuration has a very steep entrance ramp just inside the main doors to the theater which leads you to the rear of the first floor seating area. Wheelchair seating spaces are located at multiple locations. There are wheelchair seating locations on the right and left of the Loge, Orchestra and Orchestra Center Sections. There are aisle seats with removable armrests for transferring in these same sections. The floor is very steep in places and assistance may be required. The theater is being remodeled to improve access including an elevator to the balcony level seats. |
Rest Room: |
The restrooms are partially accessible, and are scheduled to be remodeled. The accessible stalls are not the proper size and do not have the required floor space around the toilet. The sink does not have lever style handles on the faucet. The paper towel dispenser is higher than average. The renovations will make the restrooms fully accessible, including an additional family assist (oversize) restroom. |

  PT Accessibility features are available for the visually and hearing impaired including assistive listening devices, sign language and narration at designated performances. Proctor's Theater is on a public transportation route.

Description: |
Proctor’s Theater is an historic landmark in downtown Schenectady which features concerts, plays, comedians and movies. The current renovations will improve parking, seating and rest room access for people with disabilities. Renovations include a new elevator to the balcony level and expanded arcade area. Scheduled completion date is spring 2005. |
