Access Guide -- Are you tired of arriving at what you were told was an accessible restaurant only to find out it's not? Have you heard, “Oh the bathroom door is too narrow? I know we've had other customers in wheelchairs who get in there.” We give you a true end user's view on who is truly accessible. It's a resource guide to accessible area sports and fitness venues, outdoor parks, sites, and trails, as well as dining (restaurants, banquet halls), entertainment (theaters, museums, performing arts), and lodging (hotels, motels, bed 'n breakfasts, conference centers) venues. We cover the greater Capital district area (Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Guilderland, Colonie), the Clifton Park and Saratoga region, and into the Adirondacks.
Scroll through our easy to read ratings of accessible features for each listing - parking, entrance, interior, restrooms, and more. Read detailed descriptions of outdoor venues - great for getting a preview of what you'll find before you get there, or matching a site to your ability level. Best of all, read the opinions of others who've been there and get a true end user's perspective on accessibility! Leave your own opinion of a favorite place you've been! We're always looking to list new attractions, and comments are always welcome. Make suggestions, tell your friends, be interactive!
All our ratings and descriptions are derived from on-site assessments. These end user opinions and insights from individuals with many varied abilities are key to what drive this accessibility rating system. This information, combined with the latest access code standards, gives us the best, most accurate and user friendly accessibility guide you'll find. Meeting the access code is one thing, but we believe it's the whole accessibility experience that counts!
